Spring Newsletter 2026

This season’s newsletter highlights important admission and grade submission updates for OVS students. We are sharing key information about OCAS and OUAC deadlines to help students stay on track with their post-secondary plans. In addition, we also feature two recent blog posts and a reminder about OVS free non-credit courses.

OCAS Deadlines

OCAS Spring Newsletter

Students applying to college through OCAS should keep in mind that May 1, 2026 is the deadline to accept an offer of admission. If you have received an offer, make sure to review your options and submit your decision by the deadline. You can also visit OCAS for guidance on how to accept an offer.

OUAC Deadlines

OVS would like to remind students of a few important upcoming OUAC collection periods and internal deadlines for submitting coursework.

Collection Period 3: In Progress and Midterm Grades for Second Semester

The OVS deadline to submit work is April 17, 2026. Work submitted after this date will still be graded, but OVS cannot guarantee that grades will be sent to OUAC in time for the April 24, 2026 submission deadline. This is the date by which schools are expected to submit all available student records to OUAC.

Collection Period 4: Final Grades for All Courses

For Collection Period 4, OVS has two separate deadlines depending on the student group.

The Group 1 deadline is June 5, 2026. This deadline is for all required work to be submitted to the teacher, including the final exam. This applies to part-time OVS students who are graduating from another Ontario high school and need their OVS credit in order to graduate.

The Group 2 deadline is June 26, 2026. This deadline is for all required work to be submitted to the teacher, including the final exam. This applies to full-time OVS students earning their OSSD through OVS, as well as students who do not need the credit to graduate and only require it for OUAC.

The OUAC submission deadline for this collection period is July 7, 2026.

**Please note that OVS deadlines for submitting work are non-negotiable. These deadlines are set one week before OUAC deadlines so teachers have enough time to mark and process student work. Teachers are supporting many students within the same timeline, and OVS will not ask them to mark faster than the standard turnaround time. Work submitted after the OVS deadline may not be marked in time for grades to be sent during the collection period. OVS cannot adjust OUAC deadlines, so students should plan ahead and submit their work on time.**

OUAC Summer Grade Collections

OUAC does not set fixed summer deadline dates. Students may request to have grades entered onto OUAC throughout the summer, but they are also responsible for making sure they are meeting any deadlines set by their universities.
During the summer, OVS does not post one single submission deadline for all students. Instead, students should make sure they are leaving enough time for teachers to complete marking before grades are needed. Summer marking may take 1–3 business days, and students are strongly encouraged to submit all work at least one week before the date their university requires grades. OVS will not rush teachers for summer grade submissions. If a student may miss a university deadline, they will need to contact the university directly to request an extension, as OVS cannot move institutional deadlines or speed up marking beyond normal timelines.
