As another school year comes to a close and we head into the summer months, students have a lot to both reflect on and look forward to. As OVS is a year round school, we continue to operate through the summer to support our students, whether they need to catch up on missed credits or are trying to get ahead and complete some requirements early, OVS has something for every student.
OUAC Dates
For students who have applied and accepted offers to Ontario universities, this is your reminder that there are some summer deadlines.
- July 7th 2026 is the deadline for OUAC to receive all final grades for 4U/M courses from Ontario high schools!
For students whose universities are accepting summer school grades, please check with your university about what dates they require everything is submitted. However, there is an OUAC collection period:
- August 3 to August 31st 2026 is the OUAC collection period for summer school grades
Please make sure to hand in your work with OVS at least a week before you need your report card!
Reaching Ahead
For students who have just completed Grade 8 and are looking to get a jump start on their high school courses, OVS offers summer programming.
Whether you want to take a preparatory course to help you with Math, or take for-credit courses towards your diploma, OVS offers several options.
With our flexible self-paced subjects, it’s easy for student to balance an OVS course over the summer with other commitments such as sports, family vacations, or just enjoying other summer related activities.

Summer Courses
We don’t just offer our Grade 9 courses over the summer, but our entire course catalogue is available from Grade 7 all the way to Grade 12.
If you didn’t pass a credit in your day school and need to catch up before next school year, you’re trying to get ahead or take required subjects to free up space in your schedule, or even a recent graduate who needs one last course before entering university, OVS can help you reach you goals.
Our summer courses offer shortened enrollment periods, meaning if you’re dedicated and do the work you can get a midterm mark in just 11 days and a final mark after 21 days of enrollment. However, you are not required to finish a course that quickly either, so if you need a little more time and the course continues over into September, that’s fine. Whenever you finish, we will get your report card where it needs to go.

At OVS, we want to make sure that we have the time to help both current students and prospective students, answering any questions or concerns they may have.
We have a dedicated Guidance service where you can schedule a 15-minute session to speak to one of our staff and get the detailed answers you need.

Finishing Strong: A Student Guide to the Final Weeks of School
While the rhythm of the traditional school year looks different across the globe, there are telltale signs in Ontario, Canada that the typical academic school year is drawing to a close. The days are getting longer. The weather is getting warmer. Summer vacation plans are on the horizon. But before students can fully embrace the dog days of summer, there are deadlines to be met, assignments to be submitted, and final assessments to be completed.
While many students are working hard to wrap up the school year and looking forward to summer vacation, there are other students who will be continuing their learning throughout the summer months. Whether the motivation is to reach ahead, upgrade a mark, complete a prerequisite for their OSSD or create flexibility in their timetable, students have a number of options on how this can be accomplished.
