Kai Kim is a 14-year-old competitive surfer representing Canada in the World Surf League. As an athlete, Kai needed a learning environment that could support both her academic goals and her training schedule. Through Ontario Virtual School, she found the flexibility to study at home, manage her courses, and continue growing both in school and in sport.
Why did you decide to take courses at OVS, and how has OVS supported your learning?
As a competitive athlete, I needed more time to train, and OVS offered the perfect study environment for me. I love having the freedom to study at any time of day while still receiving support from great teachers. OVS also helped me build critical thinking and time management skills that will help me succeed in the future.
How did your experience with OVS compare to your day school experience?
With OVS, I noticed that I was learning more and enjoying school more as well. The flexibility made it easier for me to balance my courses with my training schedule.
What advice would you give to students looking to take courses online?
I would tell them that OVS is a great choice for online courses. Stay motivated, stay interested, and enjoy every moment.
What are you studying right now, and how are you finding it?
I am studying English, Art, Math, and Healthy Active Living at home. I am finding all my subjects really good, and I feel like I have been learning so much.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
OVS has been a big support in helping me balance my sport and academics. It has given me the flexibility and skills I need to succeed both in the water and in my studies.
