As the end of the school year draws closer and summer on the horizon, OVS is gearing up for the end of the year and our summer curriculum.
In this newsletter, we’ll discuss final OUAC deadlines and Summer Courses, why also sharing some news about OVS’ community outreach and student spotlights.
Summer Courses
OVS is a year-round school, dedicated to providing quality education to students with flexible timelines, so that you can have a school schedule that fits your needs.
As part of this, OVS operates through the summer so that students don’t have to wait to complete essential courses that they need.
If you sign up for a course in early July and August, you can complete it in as little as 21 days (instead of our standard 28-day minimums), allowing you to complete your course even faster on a reduced timeline.
Along with this, we also offer Upgrade and Reach Ahead programs.
Reach Ahead
For students currently in 8th Grade or who have just completed it, you can participate in our Reach Ahead program.
This program allows students to earn Grade 9 credits before entering their Grade 9 year, so that eager students can get a jump start on their education.
All of our Grade 9 credits are available for Reach Ahead over the summer and you can take up to 3 credits.
For more information on our course catalog please check out our Grade 9 course page.
Upgrade Courses
We offer programs for senior students over the summer as well. If you took a Grade 12 course and didn’t achieve the mark that you were hoping for or didn’t meet your university requirements for admission, you can take an Upgrade course to try and still meet your requirements.
Upgrade courses allow students to complete a course in 21 days, lessons are all available but are optional for viewing, and depending on the course, some Upgrade subjects have a reduced course load.
Upgrade courses allow students to retake a subject to attempt to earn a higher mark than they received the first time around. Generally speaking, most universities accept the higher of the two submitted marks for the course.
Go to our Upgrade page for more information about available Upgrade courses.
OUAC Deadlines
As a reminder, there are essential deadlines approaching for senior students to ensure their final marks are uploaded to OUAC in a timely manner for their applications and offers.
The opening date for final marks to be submitted is June 2nd 2025 and the last day for submission is July 7th 2026.
To help OVS students, we have laid out specific deadlines for completing work, depending on your course status with us. First, you’ll need to determine which Group you fall under with OVS
Group 1
You are a Group 1 student if both of these apply to you:
- You need your OVS credit as one of your 30 credits for high school graduation
- You are NOT a full-time student with OVS (meaning you are graduating from a different high school).
For Group 1 students, the deadline to submit work is: June 5th
This deadline will ensure that OVS can get your mark to your day school in time for graduation. If you hand in work after this deadline, it will still be marked, but OVS CANNOT guarantee that your final mark will arrive at your day school in time for graduation.
Group 2
You are a Group 2 student if the following applies to you:
- You DO NOT need your credit with OVS to graduate from high school
OR
- You are a GRADUATING with OVS. Meaning you attend OVS full-time and are earning your diploma through our school
For Group 2 students, the deadline to submit work is: June 26th
This deadline will ensure you earn your diploma with OVS and have your marks uploaded to OUAC before the deadline. If you hand in work after this deadline, it will still be marked, but OVS CANNOT guarantee that your final mark will be uploaded to OUAC before the deadline.
Hackathon
As part of an effort to connect with our local community, OVS sponsors a wide variety of student events and activities.
This month we sponsored the WolfHacks Hackathon at Chinguacousy Secondary School in Brampton. The Hackathon is a STEAM-based program where students from across the Peel District School Board in Grades 7 to 12 can participate in a friendly competition in STEAM innovation.
Students participating in the competition can win prizes and awards. But there are also workshops that students can join that help teach them important skill and told to succeed in STEAM programs.
OVS was proud to sponsor and participate in the program this year and excited to see and work with all the young innovative students!
