Princeton is a student from Toronto who graduated with his OSSD from Ontario Virtual School in February 2026. He chose OVS because he wanted more flexibility and a learning schedule that fit better with his goals, interests, and daily life. OVS gave him the freedom to make time for work, hobbies, specialized learning opportunities, and other experiences outside of a traditional school schedule.
We asked Princeton a few questions about his experience with OVS.
Without the option of OVS, I would not be the same person I am today.
Why did you choose OVS?
In high school, there was constant social pressure that I felt I could not quite fit into. Assignments were slow, class was boring, and I wanted to pursue other things in life, like musical hobbies, work experience, and specialized education. I could not do that if I was in school 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, for 10 months straight. I chose OVS to fast-track high school, study abroad to gain another diploma in a specialized subject, pursue my passions and hobbies, and work multiple jobs all at once. OVS gave me the freedom to plan my time and choose my life.
How did OVS compare to your day school experience?
With OVS, you make your own schedule. There is no bell telling you when to eat, and there is no restriction on going to the washroom when you need to. I could work weekday mornings at my job and then come home to do schoolwork. I could attend a family lunch when relatives visited me without having the restrictive schedule of day school. With OVS, school can be a priority without chaining you down.
How has OVS prepared you for life outside of high school?e
Given the free time I had from studying with OVS, I gained real-world job experience and developed a variety of skills that greatly improved the quality of my resume, social skills, and life management. I feel confident stepping into university and feel prepared to enter different job markets thanks to OVS. Without the option of OVS, I would not be the same person I am today. With OVS, I was able to not only finish high school early, but also discover myself, develop my interests and passions, work multiple jobs at once, have a healthy social life, spend time with family, volunteer in my community, and study abroad.
