Where did you go for Post-Secondary and your Teaching Degree?
I went to Queen’s University at Kingston, Ontario for my Post-Secondary and Teaching Degree. I graduated with a major in History and a minor in Mathematics in 2024.
What made you want to become a Teacher?
I first considered teaching when I was in grade 9 and a general subjects tutor for my class. It was (and is) incredibly rewarding to experience a student have a lightbulb moment when you guide them through a topic! Additionally, I love the social aspect of teaching- no two students are ever the same so I enjoy gaining different perspectives on life and education.
What is your favourite part about being a Teacher?
Definitely building confidence in my students and seeing them become more confidence in themselves and their knowledge!
Do you prefer teaching online or in a classroom?
I enjoy both, but I do believe it is easier to build interpersonal professional relationships with students in a classroom than online. Teaching online definitely has its perks because then students can really take learning at their own pace (which I think is the ideal way to learn!). Regardless, I invite any student to drop on by for my office hours for any help or advice!
What are some of your favourite past times, aside from teaching?
Knitting, crocheting, annoying my cat, and sometimes MOBA games.
Where did you grow up?
Depends! I was born and raised on a small Caribbean nation called Saint Kitts and Nevis, but for secondary school, I studied abroad in China.

What do you feel is your greatest success in life so far?
I believe my greatest success so far has been gaining my Bachelor’s of Arts and Education at Queen’s. It is through Queen’s that I got so many wonderful opportunities for friendship and career.
If you couldn’t be a teacher, what career would you most likely have?
If I couldn’t be a teacher, I most likely would be in business or computer science. I enjoyed both these subjects when I was in high school. However, I really didn’t have a backup plan outside of teaching.
Favourite Movie?
I don’t have a favourite movie but I do have a favourite tv show! It’s Avatar the Last Airbender.
What is one piece of advice you would like to share with your students?
Everyone has a different pace with life so don’t rush yours!
