Ms. Wardzala | French Teacher

Wardzala

In an effort for our students to connect a little more with their teachers, we  asked Ms. Wardzala to answer questions about herself and her interests.

When did you realize you wanted to become a teacher?

When I was in high school. I really enjoyed French and being around people and thought it would be a good fit.

Do you prefer teaching online or in a classroom? Why? How do they compare?

I do enjoy teaching in person, interacting with students and seeing their progress. I am equally as interested in teaching online, and am always looking for ways to improve my teaching skills. I think the two teaching styles complement each other.

What are some of your favourite pastimes, aside from teaching?

I have spent some time working with Air Canada and so it goes without saying that I love to travel. I also enjoy spending time by the water (but not IN the water – I’m not a very good swimmer!) and the beach.

What is one piece of advice you would like to share with your OVS students?

My piece of advice is give it your all, because what you put in is exactly what you are going to get out. The more practice, time and dedication you put in, the better your experience will be.

Describe yourself in 5 words.

Fun, Creative, Resilient, Observant, Determined

Where did you go for post-secondary and your teaching degree? What did you study/specialize in?

Glendon at York University – I studied French Studies and Hispanic Studies. My Teacher’s College I completed in Ottawa. I also studied Christianity and Culture at University of Toronto

York University – Glendon Campus – OUInfo

What is the first thing you would do or buy if you won the lottery?

I would spend my days in the south of France, near the sea, sitting in cafés and tend to my vineyard / lavender field.

If you couldn’t be a teacher, what career would you most like to have?

I would definitely be in the Tourism industry.

What is your favourite song? Artist? Genre?

Any song that makes me crank up the volume and sing at the top of my lungs in the car is my favourite song. Bonus if an old Backstreet Boys or Spice Girls track starts playing!

What is your favourite book? Author? Genre?

Anything I read definitely needs to be relaxing and light. The Shopaholic series is one of my all time faves, having read them all multiple times.

What is your favourite movie? TV show?

I always look forward to a good musical movie – Mamma Mia (1 and 2), the Sound of Music, Eurovision. My favourite TV show is Dancing with the Stars and the Rookie.
